Kentucky: Garrard County - Building a Small Business Website Seminar

Lancaster, Ky. - On Friday, Mar. 13, the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce hosted its second training seminar of 2009. The event was hosted at the First Southern National Bank Community Room and featured a seminar entitled "Building a Small Business Website." Kevin Norvell of the Eastern Kentucky University Small Business Development Center (EKU SBDC) presented and was accompanied by John Preston, a Management Consultant with the EKU SBDC.

The seminar was attended by 8 people including current- and non-members of the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce. Norvell spent approximately 90-minutes covering the basics of a free web-based platform called Microsoft Office Live. The Office Live Suite includes a template based website development platform that can be customized in almost innumerable ways to accommodate each user's preferences and needs. It also included internal websites for sharing documents among members of a company, 100 free e-mail addresses, and modules for specific business needs.

The Garrard County Chamber of Commerce will host its next public event on Tuesday, Mar. 17 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Edward Jones Investments (230 N. Lexington Street - Suite B) in Lancaster.
